This picture quite literally represents the future, informing pedestrians of the “crowning jewel” that will soon be the Mill Ruins Park. This project highlights the growing appreciation for the Wasburn-Crosby Mill as a founding element of Minneapolis.
Present: The Mill district has become a breeding ground for penthouse and condominium buildings. It is also a desirable location for families to tour and shop, which of course was not the case during the mill’s active years.
Past: This is a picture of the canal where the watermill used to be, also known as the lower tailrace. It will soon be reconstructed and groomed for visitor improvement, although it is nice to see it as it was left, camouflaged by vines, wildflowers and other foliage.
